Eliminating the Excuses

Alot of us have have allot of excuses as to why we don't workout or eat like we should. let me brake them down for you.

  1. I can't do it:  Cant is just a state of mind! YES YOU CAN!! You have to tell yourself every day I CAN do this and I WILL do this because I AM WORTH IT!!
  2. I have bad genes: What does this even mean? even if you come from a big family YOU CAN brake the cycle if you try hard enough and maybe you can get your family involved for instance ask your mother of sister of even your father to go for a walk, go play tennis or basket ball or something do it for your family.
  3. I'm to tired:  Hears the thing working out gives you energy. When you exercise it increase blood flow that helps deliver more oxygen throughout your body. You need that oxygen to create energy.  As more oxygen is being delivered throughout you body, more energy is created. Also exercise releases endorphins in your body. Endorphins released in your body will give you a “feel good” sensation.  In addition, working out gets you in better shape which in the long run means that you don’t get as tired as quickly, which is much like having extra energy.
  4. I've Failed before: NEVER EVER GIVE UP because YOU DESERVE better!
  5. I'm All Alone: There is a website called My fitness pal it is amazing! I have made so meany awesome friends that keep me motivated and there awesome to chat with try it and feel free to add me http://www.myfitnesspal.com/hisjellybean
  6. I love food: Everyone Loves food, it taste good and its fun to cook but you can find so meany good foods and Reicipes that are fun to make try skinny taste OMG I love this website the Reicipes are delicious AND healthy.
  7. I'm to busy: This is simple wake up 30 min early How hard is it? And before you say your to tired read the I'm to tired section again :)
  8. Its to hard: Let me say one thing... Anything worth having is worth fighting for! You want to have a better body its worth fighting for, Ya its hard and its going to take some time but isn't it worth it? aren't YOU worth it? the answer is simple YES!!
  9. I'm to old:  Exercise Make you feel good and wonderful inside. Even if you are old they make diet and exercise plans for older people pluses Exercising will make you live a longer healthier life
  10. I'll do it later: How meany times have you said I'll do it late and never did it or Said I'll do it tomorrow and when tomorrow comes you have the same excuse? Don't you ever ask yourself Didn't I say I'll do it tomorrow yesterday? How long are you going to put yourself and your life on the back burner?
  11. No will power: will power is your own self control as in YOU CONTROL YOU you have to get in the right state of mind if you want to succeed and you CAN succeed. so tell yourself that everyday say Self YOU CAN SUCCEED.
  12. I hate working out: The best advice I can give is to find a workout that works for you that is fun some examples are: Zumba, Sports, Playing on the Wii, Dancing, Playing with kids, Swimming, ECT not all workouts are work they can be fun to.
I hope you find this useful and motivating and as always leave me a comment, question or concern also Leave a comment with your excuse and I will add it it :)

Little Victorys

I have realized if I set small goals then I can feel more accomplished threw my weight loss journey. For example my goal is to lose 15 pounds between June 15th and July 15th. Even if I only lose 10 pounds in that month that's a huge victory for me yesterday I was on my wii fit game and decided to weigh myself and I lost 1.5 pounds... I celebrated like it was 5 or 10 pounds and I am really proud. The thing is when you have PCOS you have to celebrate those small goals because Its so much harder to get there and in all reality we PCOS Systers have all the right in the world to brag about our weight loss success because we work so much harder than woman with out PCOS So remember to take your metformin everyday and pat yourself on the back at every small victory and if you happen to gain a little don't worry about it your doing the best you can.

How to Avoid Genetically Modified Foods

GMO's sometimes called GM's are Genetically Modified foods.

In the US and Canada food manufacturers are not required to label if their food is genetically modified or not.I found some guidelines for steering clear of GM foods in your diet, if that is your choic

Become familiar with the most common applications of genetic modification. These are the products (and their derivatives) that are most likely to be genetically modified:
  • Soybeans
  • Corn
  • Rapeseed/Canola
  • Sugar beets
  • Dairy
  • Sugar
  • Papayas.
  • Zucchini.
  • Baked goods

Buy food labeled 100% organic. The US and Canadian governments do not allow manufacturers to label something 100% organic if that food has been genetically modified or been fed genetically modified feed. You may find that organic food is more expensive and different in appearance from conventional products.
  • Also, just because something says "organic" on it does not mean that it does not contain GMs. In fact, it can still contain up to 30% GMs, so be sure the labels say 100% organic

Trusted Organic Certification institutions include QAI, Oregon Tilth, and CCOF. Look for their mark of approval on the label of the product.USDA Organic standards pale in comparison , do not consider a product 100% organic if it is only USDA Organic Certified
  • This applies to eggs, as well. Eggs labeled "free-range", "natural", or "cage-free" are not necessarily GE-free; look for eggs to be 100% organic.

Recognize fruit and vegetable label numbers.
  • If it is a 4-digit number, the food is conventionally produced.
  • If it is a 5-digit number beginning with an 8, it is GM. However, do not trust that GE foods will have a PLU identifying it as such, because PLU labeling is optional.
  • If it is a 5-digit number beginning with a 9, it is organic.
Purchase beef that is 100% grass-fed. Most cattle in the U.S. are grass-fed, but spend the last portion of their lives in feedlots where they may be given GM corn, the purpose of which is to increase intramuscular fat and marbling. If you're looking to stay away from GM0s, make sure the cattle were 100% grass-fed or pasture-fed (sometimes referred to as grass-finished or pasture-finished).
  • The same applies to meat from other herbivores such as sheep.
  • There is also the slight possibility that the animals were fed GM alfalfa, although this is less likely if you buy meat locally.
  • With non-ruminants like pigs and poultry that cannot be 100% grass-fed, it's better to look for meat that is 100% organic.
Seek products that are specifically labeled as non-GM or GMO-free. However, it is rare to find products labeled as such. You can also research websites that list companies and foods that do not use genetically modified foods, but be aware that information is often incomplete and conflicting interests may not be declared.

Shop locally. Although more than half of all GM foods are produced in the US,[7] most of it comes from large, industrial farms. By shopping at farmers' markets, signing up for a subscription from a local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm, or patronizing a local co-op, you may be able to avoid GM products and possibly save money at the same time.
  • More and more small farms are offering grains and meat directly to customers, in addition to the usual fare (vegetables, fruit, herbs).
  • Shopping locally may also give you the opportunity to speak to the farmer and find out how he or she feels about GMOs and whether or not they use them in their own operation.

Buy whole foods. Favor foods that you can cook and prepare yourself, rather than foods that are processed or prepared (e.g. anything that comes in a box or a bag, including fast food). What you lose in convenience, you may recover in money saved and satisfaction gained, as well as increased peace of mind. Try cooking a meal from scratch once or twice a week--you may enjoy it and decide to do it more often

Grow your own food. This way you know exactly what was grown, and what went into growing it.

I hope this information will be very useful to you and your family. Feel Free to leave a Comment, Question or Concern.

Low Amylose Diet

Ok So I stumbles across a diet for women with PCOS called the Low Amylose Diet. I am going to try to fallow it along with some other PCOS diet tips I have found.

Rules for the Low Amylose Diet:
1.Avoid all simple sugars such as candy, sodas, cakes, pies, ice cream, etc. These are almost pure forms of glucose.
2.Avoid vegetables that are grown underground, corn (the waxy kind is ok), bananas, and foods enriched with maltodextrins or corn syrup.
3.Avoid wheat, rice, rye, barley, and oats.
4.Eat a minimum of 3 servings each of above-ground vegetables and fruits daily.
5.Eat at least 6 ounces of protein every day.

Foods very low in Amylose, and therefore better for a PCOS diet and weight loss, include artichoke, asparagus, avocado, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cucumber, eggplant, green beans, lettuce, low-fat yogurt and peanuts.

Foods to avoid include pretzels, rice cakes, Rice Crispies, corn Chex, rice Chex, instant mashed potatoes, corn flakes, baked potato, instant rice and frozen tofu dessert

I am still doing some research into this but you can go HERE to find some Low Amylose food Ideas.
One thing that is important to remember that boiling foods can make them more unhealthy for you so Always bake food when you can.  I just happened to stumble upon THIS BLOG... I haven't read it yet but Definitely will be fallowing it.

The next ting I found was about Resveratrol witch I am also still researching but I was able to find a list of food that are good for you and have Resveratrol.

  • Japanese Knotweed: Also known as Polygonum cuspidate, Hu Zhang, and/or kojo-kon, Japanese knotweed is the most abundant source of resveratrol. Red wine grapes, another source of resveratrol, have their place in a healthy lifestyle because they are loaded with polyphenol antioxidants. However, Japanese knotweed has been utilized as a less expensive source of resveratrol for many of the supplements currently on the market.

  • Grapes: Red grapes are a potent source of resveratrol. Red wine contains resveratrol because of the fermentation process, during which the grape skins make contact with the developing wine. Since resveratrol is a natural defense mechanism against plant pathogens, commercially grown grapes will contain far less of the compound due to the use of pesticides.Factors that determine the concentration of resveratrol in grapes include geographical region of origin, exposure to fungi and other cultivation factors. Purple grape juice also contains resveratrol; however, it occurs in lower concentrations than in red wine.

  • Peanuts: Peanuts are a practical whole food source of resveratrol. However, they are a far less concentrated source of resveratrol than grapes and/or Japanese knot weed  The Linus Pauling Institute reports that one cup of raw peanuts contains at most 0.26 mg of reseveratrol. By comparison, one cup of red grapes contains 1.25 mg. Interestingly, one cup of boiled peanuts contains 1.28 mg, a comparable amount to grapes.

  • Berries: Deep blue, red and purple berries also contain resveratrol in smaller, varying amounts. Berries belonging to the Vaccinums pecies, including blueberries, bilberries and cranberries, contain the highest amounts of resveratrol. The optimal dosage and source of resveratrol for human consumption is unknown, as more research is needed.

  • I also saw a pin up on pintrest that says Red Foods are rich in Resverato but I have not found any further evidence on this.

I will soon be posting a topic on GMO's and how to avoid them. Hope you found this helpful and as alwayse feel free to leave a comment, Question or concern.

    Sometimes I BRAKE

The way I look a the word and things is so much different than anyone I know. I guess you could say I have an LA attitude things don't bother me like they do some people I don't do the Drama Rama thing... I don't freak out over things that bother some people... I'm chill and I like it. With this PCOS thing I am living threw It's a hole different story, All I can think about is how I might never have a family... How I will never get to experience my baby's first word or learning how to walk. I'll never know what its like to feel the kind of love you can get from a child or how proud you can be when you child brings home his first A. I guess what makes me so angry is that there are some people out there that have had 5 or 6 kids and they could care less like there child is nothing more than a few extra dollars at tax time Or people that don't even want children and then there's people like me that want it more than anything in the world, people that would care for there kids and  treat them like there the best thing in the world like they wouldn't rather have anything elts on this earth. Most of the time I can be strong and I can hold my head up high and smile threw the pain but sometimes I just Brake! Sometimes I cant handle the news that one of my friends is pregnant again, or that there kids have had yet another birthday. The thing is that Every female friend I have had has a child and most of them have 3 or more And 4 days ago when I got the news my best friend for as long as I can remember is now expecting I Lost it But you know the thing is I don't want to be upset that my Best Friend can and is going to have a baby when I cant because I love her and I want to be happy for her and that baby because No matter what they are going to be in my life and that baby will look to me as its aunt. I just want to be apart of her pregnancy and the baby's life. I have pushed every friend of mine that has ever had a child damn near out of my life so maybe in my subconsciousness I am taking the news of her having a baby as loosing my best friend. I feel so guilty for being so upset and I don't know what to do... Sometimes I just Brake

thanks for taking the time to read and feel free to leave a comment, Question or concern.

    Fight Like A Girl

Welcome to Fight Like A Girl!!
Fight like a girl is my blog about my fight with Poltcysytic Ovary Syndrome or PCOS. If you don't know what PCOS is then you can go HERE and read all about it. Basically it makes it very difficult to conceive a child. PCOS affects 5-10% of woman. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 4 years ago about a year after I miscarried my first child. Sometimes I think that my miscarriage was meant to be because I was only 16 and not ready to take on another life when I was still young myself. When I was 17 I met the man that is now my husband of almost 3 years. Since we got married all I could think about was having a child of our own but with PCOS it mad it almost impossible.  Now I'm 2 moths away from being 21 and I want to be a mother before I turn 22 so I will do everything I can or have to to make it happen.

Feel free to leave a comment, Question or concern.
